KINDERGARTEN and THIRD GRADE
" 2000 PETITS RIENS "
" 2000 LITTLE THINGS "
The Sheldon students participated in an email project which they were to count, and explore 2000 Little Things.
We choose to count 2000 fall leaves.
A Kindergartner and a third grader each counted by tens a bag of 100 leaves.
We dumped the leaves into a 30-gallon garbage bag and counted by 100ís.
2000 leaves fit exactly in one large garbage bag.
We estimated the weight of 2000 leaves.
Most students estimated much heavier than the 3 pounds, which our leaves did weigh.
The Kindergarten class made leaf rubbings with some of the leaves :
and the Third grade students painted shirts with leaf prints.
The third graders also wrote paragraphs titled " What Can I do with 2000 Leaves ".
The third graders said : make a leaf house, decorate for fall, put in a compost, make place mats, make fall scenes, use as stencils, make leis, turn into jewelry, make leaf rubbings and paint shirts.
We had a great time as you can see by our photos!
